Research

Before any programme is implemented, meaningful engagement and evidence-based research must come first.

At Angels, we offer comprehensive Community Needs Assessments (CNAs) designed to guide impactful, sustainable interventions in rural and under-resourced areas. Our assessments include:

  • Desktop research and analysis of existing data
  • In-person surveys with individuals and households
  • Focus groups that capture community perspectives and lived experiences

We apply our unique Life Chain Approach, which maps needs and opportunities across every stage of the human lifecycle — from prenatal care to elder support. This ensures no segment of the community is overlooked. By identifying what resources exist, what is lacking, and where the greatest needs and opportunities lie, we create a holistic understanding of each community we serve.

Our methodology also integrates principles from Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), building on local strengths rather than imposing external solutions.

Every research process culminates in a detailed Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Plan, which provides a baseline for implementation, tracks progress, and manages expectations and risks from the outset.

Our research is led by a qualified Social Anthropologist and Economic Development Practitioner with years of experience working in rural South African communities. This expertise ensures culturally sensitive, ethically sound, and deeply informed engagements.

“Don’t promise what you cannot do. Just do what you promise. It’s simple, powerful, and meaningful.”

At Angels Resource Centres our HEART is for Community Development! Let us help you understand your community before you serve it.
