Genezis Youth

Summary

  • Micro Genezis programme
    This programme introduces one day introductory workshops related to job skills, life skills, business skills and tech skills.
  • Genezis Skills Development Programme (GSD)
    Because not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur, we also need to support youth who prefer to enter the job market and build careers. The GSD is delivered in two phases, designed to support their choices and help improve their opportunities:
    • Choices workshop: This workshop helps the participants to decide on the next steps best suited for them.
    • Next Steps training programmes*: They can then choose which one of the following accredited entry level training courses to join.
      • Higher Certificate in Leadership Skills
      • Agricultural Practices (mixed Farming)
      • Occupational Certificate in Supply Chain Management
      • Certificate in basic computing, coding and robotics
      • Office Administration
      • Certificate in Health & Safety practices

*Training programmes differ in duration and is hosted by Lead Academy – our accredited training partner.

Description and Outcomes

Genezis youth programmes cater for job seekers as well as entrepreneurially minded youth, introducing them to choices and equipping them with information and skills to make decisions that will positively impact their future

Green Clubs

Summary

Introducing environmentally friendly activities and recycling practices in schools through a fun club, managed by the Learners. The club hosts competitions, upcycling workshops and events. These interactive club activities uses recycling and upcycling as opportunities for the young people to practice teamwork, leadership skills and healthy competition.

Description and Outcomes

Clean up the environment while having fun and transferring positive environmental practices that are both healthy and educational. Green Clubs can also become a fundraising activity for the schools.

Leadership Camps

Summary

  • Youth camps are hosted at the Soetwater Environmental Centre in Kommetjie (Cape Town).
  • A week of outdoors activities that allows the young people to discover their strengths and leadership skills and have a lot of fun while doing so!

Description and Outcomes

Covering conversations such as GBV, toxic masculinity and bullying creates a platform for the youth to engage positively around these topics that impact their lives negatively.

They experience life skills such as teamwork, leadership and problem solving which promotes their confidence and ability to apply these skills to their lives.

They receive a certificate of participation.
